Carboxymethylcellulose is a clear, colorless, slightly viscous solution. Its composition is 0.5 % w/v sodium Carboxymethylcellulose I.P. and 0.005% w/v Stabilized Oxychloro Complex as a preservative. Carmellose sodium has no pharmacological effect. Its high viscosity results in an increased retention time on the eye. It has a preservative that, on exposure to light, dissociates into water, oxygen, sodium, and chloride ions. - Always replace the cap after use. Do not use it if the color of the solution changes or becomes cloudy.
- After opening the container, the solution should be used within one month. Do not use the product after the expiration date marked on the container.
- Patients must be advised that if they develop an intercurrent ocular condition (injury or infection), patients should immediately seek their doctor's advice.
- If patients use more than one topical ophthalmic drug, the drugs should be administered at least 15 minutes apart.
